IRED INSTITUTE OF EDUCATION

"IRED Institute of Education (IRED Institute) is an independent and non-profit education organization, with various activities in many forms, in order to contribute to promoting the formation and development of Liberal Education (enlightened education) in Vietnam. The main activities of IRED Institute include Research, Training, Publishing, Seminars and Projects.

In particular, IRED Institute has co-founded and operated several non-profit educational initiatives, including the IPL Enlightened Leadership School, GoodBooks Initiative, the Good Books Awards, and the OpenEdu Initiative. In the field of training, IRED Institute has also established and implemented the Enlightened Pedagogy Program (EPP), aimed at developing enlightening pedagogical competencies for school teachers. In addition, PLEMS Education is a not-for-profit LIBERAL EDUCATION initiative, dedicated to developing GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP competencies for Vietnamese students.

At IRED Institute, we believe that “I am the creator of myself!”, each life is a work of art, with oneself as the author. Therefore, “Teaching is to make learning happen, to enable others to learn!”. We aim to help learners “Believe in Authentic learning”, know how to “Self-enlightenment” and equip themselves with “Cultural Competence, Citizenship Competence, and Professional Competence” to become “Free individuals, Responsible citizens, and lifelong pursuers of excellence in all that they do.”

The philosophy and model of Liberal Education at the IRED Institute are clearly reflected in two works/books "The Pursuit of Truth: A Perspective on Enlightenment in Our Time" and “Enlightened Pedagogy: The World, Vietnam, and the Self” by the author Gian Tu Trung

IRED Institute goals are to conduct educational activities in order to promote the “Liberal Education” and nurture the path of “Self-Enlightenment” of each individual to be free human beings.

VISION

To become a Vietnamese educational organization of international repute, making meaningful contributions to the emergence and advancement of Liberal (Enlightened) Education and the ethos of self-directed emancipation in Vietnam.

MOTTO

The principle of “Self-Enlightenment” championed and promoted by IRED and OpenEdu draws its inspiration from the ethos of “self-directed enlightenment” articulated by the cultural reformer Phan Châu Trinh in the previous century.
