Hans-Georg Gadamer is widely regarded as one of the most influential philosophers of the twentieth century and a central figure in shaping modern hermeneutics.
In an age increasingly governed by data and algorithms, Gadamer’s voice reminds us that the most essential dimensions of human life—from love and art to justice and history—cannot be reduced to quantification, but can only be understood through dialogue, openness, and attentive listening.
This special symposium invites participants to explore Gadamer’s intellectual journey through two key works:
- Truth and Method: A foundational text that establishes the framework of philosophical hermeneutics.
- Polyphonic Commentary on Truth and Method: A work that revisits, expands, and revitalizes Gadamer’s legacy through a “polyphonic” mode of interpretation.
This theme is not only of significance to scholars, but also offers valuable insights for those interested in humanistic philosophy, the social sciences, and anyone seeking to approach knowledge through listening, dialogue, and free reflection—particularly within the conditions of contemporary life.
