About the Seminar
The seminar aims to introduce targeted audience to an advanced education approach of the world – Montessori Method (MM) which was developed over 100 years ago and has been proven as one of the most effective methods in educating children around the world. The following is the discussion content at the seminar:
- History and philosophy of Montessori Method (MM)
- Student-centered approach in MM
- Development and application of MM around the world
- Major benefits of MM in developing children’s personalities, practical life skills, thinking and intellectual development
About the Speaker
Coming to Vietnam since September 2009, Dr. Joan Easton has been a dedicated advisor on Montessori Method to a number of education institutions in Vietnam. She was also a professor at An Giang University, Elite School, Vietnamese-American Schools and so on. Dr. Easton has forty years of teaching experience as a professor in Education Methods, Educational Psychology and particularly Child Psychology in several universities in the United States. As a certified educator of the Montessori Method in Ireland, in 1975, she founded the Little School for children aged three to eight in Ireland and served as a director of the school. Her only son was one of the first students at this school.
Dr. Easton received a B.A. degree in English Literature and Creative Writing, with a minor in elementary education, and an M.A. degree in teaching and psychology from Hunter College of the City University of New York. Her Ph.D. study is in the psychology of language from the Union Graduate School (U.S.).
When not in Vietnam, Dr. Easton lives with her son, daughter-in-law, and grand-children in St. Peter, Minnesota.
