Seminar: "New Trends in Social Science Research"

On March 28 2012, IRED organized the “New Trends in Social Science Research” seminar, the first one in IRED’s Research Career seminar series. The seminar was held at the office of IRED at 4 Ba Huyen Thanh Quan Street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City. Participants of the seminar were researchers, university professors, lecturers, and leaders of a number of research and education institutions.

To kick-off the seminar, Professor Gilbert de Terssac—Director of Research at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS)—delivered an extensive presentation on “The Theory of Social Regulation – La Théorie de Régulation Sociale.” Following that presentation, Dr. Nguyen Khanh Trung—the seminar coordinator—introduced the new trends in educational research, from curriculum theory (M. Young, B. Berstein) to the concept of educational markets (G. Felouzis, Agnès Van Zanten), as well as new research technologies and methodologies in the world.  To conclude the seminar, Professor Terssac and participants exchanged a dialogue in the last hour on how these theories have been successfully applied in Europe and Africa, and explored possibilities and ways to adapt them into the education context of Vietnam.
