The IRED Institute, in collaboration with scholars, researchers, and education experts, organizes academic events such as seminars, workshops, and conferences, both domestic and international, in the fields of culture, education, and social sciences.

Seminar: “Philosophy in Social Sciences"

On 28 June 2013, IRED organized a seminar entitled “Philosophy in Social Sciences”. The seminar was led by the keynote speaker - Bui Van Nam Son - a highly-regarded Vietnamese scholar and philosophical researcher. More than 50 participants who are university lecturers, professors ,  researchers, higher education administrators, and graduate students. 

Bui Van Nam Son delivered an insightful presentation on the purpose of philosophy in social sciences differences and similarities of diverse scientific methodologies. The scholar delivered to participants a comprehensive analysis of scientific methodologies, from methodological naturalism, methodological individualism, methodological holism, to methodological pluralism. After his presentation, there was a ninety-minute open discussion between Bui Van Nam Son and the audience focusing on the value and missions of social sciences research in terms of  social scientific philosophy and relevant methodology movement. Many participants expressed their strong interests during this robust dialogue.  Many found that the seminar and Bui Van Nam Son’s insights were profoundly relevant and useful to their daily work and research projects.
